Double emissions from thawing permafrost

Thawing permafrost areas in the tundra of Siberia, Scandinavia and Canada emit twice as much methane as previously thought. This can lead to a self-reinforcing spiral where a warmer climate leads to increased thawing with increased methane leakage, which leads to enhanced heating etc.
