The Swedish Energy Agency provides Stena Recycling with 70.7 million SEK in support of an investment in a new battery recycling facility at Stena Nordic Recycling Center in Halmstad. The plant is initially estimated to handle approximately 10,000 tonnes of batteries per year and has, through new technology, the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 25,000 tonnes per year. Recycling includes lithium-ion batteries from electric cars as well as industrial and consumer products.
