CEOs in green transition

2021 - led by Haga Initiative
2022 - led by Skift
2023 - led by CLC

The workstream aims create tools for Nordic CEOs, researchers, decision-makers, and other key stakeholders to meet and discuss challenges and opportunities with the climate transformation. The added value is to find a common ground with a minimum climate ambition for Nordic companies.

In the spring of 2021, the Haga Initiative arranged a webinar with the theme "Climate and Security - how to navigate in the new geopolitical context?". The webinar brought together experts from politics, business, and science to raise perspectives on climate and security in the new geopolitical landscape, opportunities and challenges this poses for companies along with questions about how a strengthened Nordic region could be favorable in the new geopolitical landscape.

The dialogues during the webinar highlighted several important points:

  • "We cannot lose momentum. It is worrisome times right now and policy needs to stay focused and promote long-term conditions for green investments. We need more carbon taxes more than ever.” Ylva Wessén, CEO, Folksam (Sweden)
  • “There are huge challenges for business. Regulations are lacking behind, and democratic institutions are not set up for the speed that is needed”. Kristin Wallevik, CEO, NORCE (Norway)
  • “We need to get rid of the dependency on fossil fuels as it is a source of conflict globally” Anders Egelrud, CEO, Stockholm Exergi (Sweden)

In February 2023, Skift arranged a webinar which continued on the theme "Climate and Security - how to navigate in the new geopolitical context?". The webinar raised questions such as how does the current geopolitical situation affect the EU and its climate related measures? What challenges do value chains face as companies work to make them greener? How can Nordic cooperation contribute to ensuring resilience and development?

In 2023, the workstream will be taken over by CLC.
