1. Stena Recycling gives Volvo’s bus batteries a second life

The commercial life of bus batteries is considerably extended and natural resources can be saved. This will be the result of a new collaboration between Volvo Buses and Stena Recycling’s subsidiary Batteryloop. When the batteries are removed from the buses, they must be reused as energy storage in, for example, properties and charging stations for many years. A bus battery is used for many years in traffic before they need to be replaced. When the battery is replaced, it still has a large part of its capacity left. It is too little to continue operating buses with good efficiency. However, that capacity is fully sufficient when the batteries are used as energy storage. The fact that the batteries can be reused means that natural resources are saved as you do not have to use newly manufactured batteries as energy storage.
