10. New technology for recycling textile flooring can save 6000 tonnes CO2
Every year, 2 million square meters of textile flooring are laid in Sweden. What is covered by the new technology ReStart Textile are textile floor tiles with PA6 yarn, a common nylon quality that is used for about half of all tiles sold in Sweden every year. The plates are sent to Tarkett’s facility in the Netherlands where the yarn is separated with the new technology. The degree of purity will be over 95%, which is a prerequisite for it to be recyclable. The new system means a potential climate saving of about 6,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
