During 2019/2020, Eco Sightseeing Sthlm AB, together with El & Marinteknik, carried out a world-unique electrical conversion of the boat M / S Sylvia. The batteries used in the electricity conversion are reused ”second life” batteries from Tesla. The goal is to offer environmental friendly sightseeing and charter experiences for everyone. The batteries are recycled from the Tesla model S, which for various reasons is no longer used in the cars. However, they still have the capacity for so-called second-life use. The batteries are installed and then the cells (total 190 kWh) are used to power an 85 kW electric motor. The battery capacity allows up to 14 hours of cruising between charges.
