As the first company in Sweden, McDonald’s, together with its suppliers, has developed serving trays made of plastic from the sea. From 2020, all trays are phased out and replaced with trays made from 100 per cent recycled sea plastic. After the trays are worn out, they are sent to the supplier and together with plastic that has been picked up along the coasts, they become new trays in the restaurants. With the concept for trays of sea plastic and recycled material, McDonald’s together with its suppliers have created a solution that puts the plastic in its proper place in a circular system.
