About 10 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the fashion and textile industry, and with the growing global middle class, emissions will continue to grow if nothing is being done. In addition to the fact that people need to use fewer garments longer, the industry must also increase the recycling rate of the new garments that are still being produced. The company Circulose, developed by Swedish Renewcell, makes it possible to recycle old textiles into new textiles and thus reduce the climate footprint to -2 kilograms CO2e per kilogram of produced textile fibers.
