55. Residual heat from data centers heats Stockholmers

When data centers are established in Stockholm Data Parks, Stockholm Exergi can recover the residual heat. So instead of the heat being blown away, it is used in the district heating system and can be used as district heating – which is good for the circular economy. Stockholm Data Parks is part of Stockholm Exergi’s world-leading business model Open District Heating, which is used for trading surplus heat from several different businesses. In 2021, they have reused 116 GWh of heat in Stockholm through Open District Heating. 1 MW of recycled heat from Stockholm Data Parks can heat 1,500 modern apartments.
